Social Media
Social media is vitally important to how Illinois State University communicates with its students, alumni, supporters, friends, and other campus community members.
Social media provides campus the opportunity to engage constituencies while supporting Excellence by Design: 2024-2029, the University’s strategic plan.
Like all communication coming from the University, messaging needs to be consistent, accurate, and professional. This document aims to offer guidance and share best practices with employees who oversee university-owned/managed/supported social media accounts so that effective social media plans can be implemented.
Social Media Guidelines 3.0 was developed by University Marketing and Communications (UMC) through collaboration with campus stakeholders. Questions about this document should be directed to SocialNetworks@IllinoisState.edu or (309) 438-8404.
