Date and time
- Days of the week should not be abbreviated in narrative text. They may be abbreviated when in tabular format.
- Months are not abbreviated in narrative text. They may be abbreviated when in tabular format.
- Include a comma with a full date: January 10, 1992
- Use lowercase letters, periods, and no spaces in a.m./p.m. when indicating time of day: The meeting starts at 8 a.m.
- Do not use zeroes to represent an hour in text: 8 a.m. (not 8:00 a.m.)
- Avoid confusion between 12 p.m. and 12 a.m. by using noon and midnight. Do not put a 12 before noon or midnight.
- When listing a day, date, and time, the preferred order is day, month and date, time: Sunday, January 1, at 1 p.m.
- In spans of time use a hyphen to separate the times: The meeting will run from 8-10 a.m.
